Authors: how much is your talent important?

Speaking about books, today everyone wants to earn from indie authors. Many posts are about covers, editing, book formatting and blurbs, reviews, and promotions. Everything of this is important, a book must look good visually.  Did we forget talent?  How much is your talent important for your success? I can give examples of authors whose books look great visually. Everything is perfect for promotion, editing, covers, and blurbs. The book looks like it is from the library. When you start reading, you are disappointed. A boring story can't impress you. Now, does it help because the book looked good? In this condition, everyone could write and present himself as an author with a good budget. If you don't have talent, these good-looking books are similar to an ugly face covered with great makeup. Your books are filtered, but they are not worthy of attention. What makes a good story? This story must capture your attention and time. If you want to know what happens next, you will rea

Featuring author Joseph Dean Allen

It is time to represent you with an awesome horror author, J. D. Allen. Born after midnight on the evening of Halloween, 1963, Joseph Dean Allen stalked the foggy enclaves of the San Francisco Bay Area, by moonlight, for much of his youth. Currently, he haunts the rainy Pacific Northwest with his husband, Kyle, and the two gremlins, disguised as house cats, with whom they live. Check out his books, read them before you sleep if you dare. Check out his Amazon page: https://www.amazon.com/stores/author/B08M14R1BR?ingress=0&visitId=b76a9ba7-8199-491e-ba5c-13ab385dbce7 My review of "Tombstones" It was the third book I read by this author. He is a master of horror. In every chapter, I wondered who will die next and how brutal this will be this murder. Making tombstones with a date of death while the person is still alive sounds like a sick joke. But this is a curse of Mava, the old witch who wanted to revenge for her stolen land and the death of her family. Everyone who was i

Big egos: What does it mean to be someone's fan?

Many authors have groups for their readers. While some of that groups are a useful source of information, others are pure presentations of ego. If the author shares invitations around to people who never read his book, he did mistakes.  To be someone's fan, you don't need to be invited. Also, nobody should beg you to read his books. Famous authors like Stephen King and Agatha Christie have a huge reader base. Their fans are attracted by their books. So, if you are a lion, you don't have to brag you are a lion. Now, why this manifestation of ego happens? Authors want to sell their books. A fan base would be welcome. Every author dreams about the life of a bestseller's author. It is annoying and expensive to do promotions, wasting money and building connections. If you are famous, it happens spontaneously. You can afford an agent who will do all this for you. Authors want to reach visibility, and if you gain a big number of group members, they will know about your group.

How to reject someone in a decent way?

Life situations will ask some help from others. Book sales can't exist without buyers, and authors need mutual collaboration and networking. We must make a difference between partnership and force. Sometimes, you will get an offer from a stranger author or blogger, to buy their books or to pay for the review. First example: an author tagged me with his book link. I said I am too busy to read, and he said I am arrogant and offended me public. I felt his despair to sell his book, but it was not the way. In a lack of time, we will reject many people who ask for something. Second example: a woman on Instagram sends me a message. She wanted me to participate in her promotion, and share her link around. After she repeated her request I said she is annoying. I did not know her before and it was too much. She started with insults about how I am not famous and that I am rude because I did not help her. Authors are targets and we are targetted from many sources. Scammers want to make book pi

Featuring author Aaron Lebold

I love thrillers and books about revenge. Aaron Lebold is an author who writes books that makes you chill and raise your adrenaline. He is a thirty-nine-year-old youth worker, and he had a passion for writing his entire life. In his early years, this translated into music, where his greatest pride was composing the lyrics for songs that displayed great emotion and had the ability to inspire others. After years of doing music as a hobby, he decided it was time to move on to new ventures, this included getting off drugs and returning to school to be an addictions counselor. He was a successful addictions counselor for eight years, staying sober from all drugs and dedicating life to becoming a better person and helping youth avoid the same path of drugs and alcohol.  Eventually, he felt the desire to challenge himself again and decided to focus on writing. He began with daily blogs and then proceeded to create his first full-length manuscript in 2018. Since then he has completed his s

6 kinds of people you don't wish to collaborate

Making a success with a book sale will demand collaboration. You need to find your community, people you can lean on when your book needs promotion and sales. Following this step will need intuition and adjustment, you need to know with whom you are dealing. During six years of my writing, I found some respectable people who love my books and I am always willing to spread my circle. Anyone who reads my blog can find my books on Amazon and write an objective review. Meeting with different people means you need to negotiate.  In my experience, those characters are not people you wish to collaborate with. Ignorant people . Were you in a situation where you wait for an answer to your message too long or did you never get an answer? This means you have to deal with an ignorant person, someone who doesn't want to consider you as a contact. Forget this and move on. Trespasser. This is someone you never talked and the person jumps in your inbox or mail, asking for help. Those are people I

How do reading books raise your mood?

How do reading bo oks raise your mood? Accord my experience, reading can affect you in various situations. When I am angry, books will make me calm. When I am sad, books will lift me up. When I am nervous, books will change my focus. Diving into a world of imaginary characters is useful for a person. If you want to relax from daily obligations, try to read. When I am reading, it is like I am moving in the movie scene.  I can see characters in front of my eyes and the plot will cause various reactions. Adrenaline, fast heartbeats, sorrow, even hate. How could a negative character in this book be so selfish? How could they be so cruel? When you are reading, you are not disturbing anyone, and you prevent yourself from others disturbing you. Is there a better excuse to get rid of annoying strangers than show a book or e-book? I remember days, when nobody support my side and previous friends turned me back. Swimming in the waters of depression, I had only books to cheer me up. While I was r
