How to deal with Youtube subscribers?

https://youtube.com/shorts/F1NK0nr_k8E?si=XoKqy6GBQ9DlO9Q- It is hard to get YouTube subscribers. If you are not famous, you might get dislikes from kids who use internet for fun. Having a You tube content means you have to do something do attract audience. I saw a guy who is swallowing a big amount of food in rapid pace and recording it. Mostly, authors post their book links and advices for other authors, that not many are listening to. Your trailers for books will pass unnoticed, unless you are famous. Some people are organizing youtube boost, to gain followers in a way follow to follow. That is resulting with annoying people who text you to follow their channel. Making a quality content doesn't mean you will get many followers.  You need to catch your audience.  Today is unpopular reading books. If you promote book trailers, people will ask for audio books. Rare will click on your links.  We became society where is popular to fart online, but presenting something serio...

Book sales: 7 kinds of useless interactions

Selling books is the main thing that authors post on social media. Book fairs are essential places for traditional authors. Indie authors can't afford to sell there.  Social media are our space and we need to demonstrate our skills, and how to find as many readers as it is possible. To find readers, you must learn how to read between lines. You can get a thousand followers and more, but most interactions will fail.  If you want to engage with people on social media, you need to avoid these kinds of interactions: Fake promises. People who promise to read your book, delay and it never happens. Read for reading. I will read your book if you read mine. Conditions for reading in return are banned on Amazon. You can read other authors' books, but it must be your choice.  Good luck or I pray for your sales users. Those are people who wish to support you, but they don't click on your payment link. Those wishes are useless.  Spammers who use tarot cards, bitcoins, or nudity....

6 kinds of biased readers

Biased review is something that is forbidden on Amazon. If your family member or close friend praises your book and Amazon noticed it, it will be deleted. It is an uncomfortable situation. Your friend wants to help you and he likes the book, but Amazon doesn't have a good reaction to hyper-positive reviews. Some writers will give ARC copies or free books in giveaways to get more reviews. They will expect 4 or 5 stars from people who got the book as a gift from them. But, does it always happen?  What happens if your ARC reader gives you a negative review? He is ungrateful or objective? Or, he is trolling your book? What kind of readers are possibly biased? If the author offers you a book and reads your book, so you mutually praise each other. If the author talks to you about giving him not less than a 4 or 5-star review. If your editor gives you a review. If your family member gives you a review. If a blogger gives you a review when he promotes you and praises your book. If the revi...

My book: The mermaid from my nightmare

Greetings to my readers and everyone who will be my reader in the future.  I have a new book. This awesome cover is made by Red Cape Publishing. The blurb: Living in different parts of the world, Dijana and Antonio would never meet. Dijana is a journalist who is looking for inspiration for a story. Antonio is a family man, a workaholic. When Dijana comes to Brazil to visit her younger sister, their paths will cross. The event from the past is hunting him. The act of burglary will wake up his fearful doubts and bitter memories. A reminiscence on the affair with a woman called Mermaid damaged his reputation. His family is in danger. Who is hating him so much to want him dead? Another victim will pay for sins, and whose turn is next? I have never been to Brazi...

Readers: why is important to have "verified purchase"?

Before three years I gave a lot of free books. I don't remember the number, maybe over 100. Did you guess how many reviews I got? About ten, not more. Also, some of my reviews were deleted by Amazon. The reason was: "there is no track of the book." What does it mean? When you see a mark above the review, that says "verified purchase", it means that your reader bought a book or got it with Kindle Unlimited. If your reader is outside of the USA, his review will appear also in one of the Amazon countries (16 in total), depending on which state he is in. Mostly my readers are from the UK, Canada, Australia, Germany.  When you ask for a review, as an author, you will offer ARC copy. That is a double-cross because you don't know will you get a review. If your reader is buying your book, it means you will probably get a review sooner or later.  Why is a verified purchase important? Amazon will not delete your review if this is a verified review. You are giving resp...

Where are our readers?

The biggest challenge for every indie author is to find his readers. When you promote yourself on social media, you will ask for readers and reviews. The important fact you will discover: every reader could be also a writer. Many people who read write their own books. That is the main reason why your reviews got late, why you did not get them, or why such readers expect you to read their book in return. The number of indie authors is huge. Everyone wishes to gain the success of Anne Todd, that published a story on Wattpad and become a bestseller, and late a movie trilogy.  Mostly, you will promote yourself to talk to people who are your potential readers. Here are the traps: Readers on Twitter. Many spammers will tell you: "I need a book recommendation", just to increase their number of followers. Promoters who expect you to pay. Give me your book, and I will promote you for a suitable price. Authors who also write books. So, where are our basic readers? The basic facts: Peop...

Bookshelves : we have more authors than readers?

I am scrolling through social media and notice many indie authors on Tik Tok, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. When you ask people are they reading books, many will say without shame they don't read. In the age of technological progress, people are so busy that they have no time to read. Hear and see, those actions have an advantage over reading. Tik Tok is based popularity on videos and teenagers will brag they don't read. If they read, they wish to read about how to make money or get famous. I made a poll on Tik Tok, 70% of people said they don't read indie authors. Based on the teenager's pattern, they probably think about how reading is a waste of time.  This makes my next question : Why write and who will read? First, you must reject the old stereotype of how the author is an old man with glasses or authoress is an old lady who is boring and not pretty.  Nowadays, authors use social media, and technology and they look great. More than ever, your appearance is impo...

Why do people underestimate indie authors?

Stereotypes about indie authors are the main obstacle to their success. If you ask an average man about indie authors, he will say: " They are not real authors, because they are not publishing in a traditional way. " If you go with questions further, there are some myths: Indie authors should give their books free to readers. They are not professionals. They should make the price of books lower.  Such things I heard so many times. Don't expect your friends will support you if you are on the way to becoming an indie author. They will say: "If she can write, I can write too. What do I have because she is an author? Why should I buy her books, she is not famous!" So, in short, when an indie author publishes his book, he will pay for the cover, formatting, editor, beta reader, and sometimes for book promotion. If you want your product to look good for buyers, you must hire professionals, and it will cost you. After all this, you will meet people who are not willing ...
