My guideline: Get over your ex lover

Relationships can be complicated. Breakups are painful and we need time to heal.  My guideline is a collection of stories that happened in real life. It is not only for women who lost the partner. Ghosting, cheating, stalking are special chapters in this book. Did you interfere in a love triangle? How do you know you are in the friendzone?  This book is available on Amazon in e-book and paperback.  https://www.amazon.com/Get-over-your-recovered-break-up/dp/1977034365?ref_=ast_author_dp

My horror novel: The curse of Dark sunrise

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BY34C83J?ref_=pe_3052080_276849420 Writing in various genres is always challenging.  This is my journey in horror genre. My novel is coming soon. The blurb: Dark sunrise is a religious cult. They are gathering members. Their supporters are people from destroyed families or those who suffer from depression.  Ana is recruited in the community when she came on the party in Croatia.   She accept to involve with a leader Victor, but he has other plans. Kidnapping a Serbian politician was a wrong move. When the new woman in the community appears, rivalry starts. Check out my book in Amazon.

How to reject someone in a decent way?

Life situations will ask some help from others. Book sales can't exist without buyers, and authors need mutual collaboration and networking. We must make a difference between partnership and force. Sometimes, you will get an offer from a stranger author or blogger, to buy their books or to pay for the review. First example: an author tagged me with his book link. I said I am too busy to read, and he said I am arrogant and offended me public. I felt his despair to sell his book, but it was not the way. In a lack of time, we will reject many people who ask for something. Second example: a woman on Instagram sends me a message. She wanted me to participate in her promotion, and share her link around. After she repeated her request I said she is annoying. I did not know her before and it was too much. She started with insults about how I am not famous and that I am rude because I did not help her. Authors are targets and we are targetted from many sources. Scammers want to make book pi...

6 kinds of people you don't wish to collaborate

Making a success with a book sale will demand collaboration. You need to find your community, people you can lean on when your book needs promotion and sales. Following this step will need intuition and adjustment, you need to know with whom you are dealing. During six years of my writing, I found some respectable people who love my books and I am always willing to spread my circle. Anyone who reads my blog can find my books on Amazon and write an objective review. Meeting with different people means you need to negotiate.  In my experience, those characters are not people you wish to collaborate with. Ignorant people . Were you in a situation where you wait for an answer to your message too long or did you never get an answer? This means you have to deal with an ignorant person, someone who doesn't want to consider you as a contact. Forget this and move on. Trespasser. This is someone you never talked and the person jumps in your inbox or mail, asking for help. Those are people I ...

Authors: how to recognize a real book buyer?

What is the dream of every author? To sell a book, of course. Nothing frustrates me more than waiting months for a book sale. I experienced it in April when I was 38 days without sales, until the middle of May.  Meanwhile, I got many promises that woke up fake hopes and expectations. "I would love to read this. " "Sounds thrilling. " "It will be on my Kindle." Checking my sales report, I did not see changes. That made me think, how many times do authors live in illusion? In the middle of May, the situation started to change. I sold e-books, and paperback, and even got some KENP reads. My buyers simply commented:" I purchase it. I bought it." It was very important to me because also I got 3 new ratings, 5 and 4 stars for my books. I don't know who rates it, but I am glad my readers like my books. Then I realized, that authors must separate fake buyers from real ones, to make difference between promises and pretending and separate it from real ...

6 things that readers dislike

I am a multi-genre author and thrillers are my favorite genre. Being on another side, as a reader and reviewer (only when I pick the book) I discovered things that readers dislike. I was reading about 150 books by indie authors. Partly to improve my English and writing style, and partly because I love reading, I was on a journey with interesting views. This is my opinion and some will not agree with me, but you can comment and express your opinion. Here is the list of book turn-offs: Prolonged books. I understand some authors want to tell the story with many details, but the plot is lost if you are stuck with too many descriptions and unimportant things. Reading a thriller that is stuck with a love story in the middle will distract readers. In the end, you have a messy book where the content is not clear. Mixed genres . Ok, if I am reading a thriller, I don't want to spoil it with a sleazy love story, about the wedding plans of the main characters. Sugarcoating is not good. A good...

Readers: why is important to have "verified purchase"?

Before three years I gave a lot of free books. I don't remember the number, maybe over 100. Did you guess how many reviews I got? About ten, not more. Also, some of my reviews were deleted by Amazon. The reason was: "there is no track of the book." What does it mean? When you see a mark above the review, that says "verified purchase", it means that your reader bought a book or got it with Kindle Unlimited. If your reader is outside of the USA, his review will appear also in one of the Amazon countries (16 in total), depending on which state he is in. Mostly my readers are from the UK, Canada, Australia, Germany.  When you ask for a review, as an author, you will offer ARC copy. That is a double-cross because you don't know will you get a review. If your reader is buying your book, it means you will probably get a review sooner or later.  Why is a verified purchase important? Amazon will not delete your review if this is a verified review. You are giving resp...

7 kinds of obstacles in book sales

You wrote a book. Today is publishing day. Impatiently waiting, nervously expecting a miracle, every writer will watch his Kindle report. He will check every ten minutes if is there a noted sale.  How many sold books do you expect this month? Ten? Hundred? Thousand? Every indie author is faced with obstacles to book sales. Here are 7 kinds of obstacles: Competition. It means millions of other authors who want to reach the same score as you. Why should buyers buy your book? What makes you different from others? Tax system. Believe it or not, some countries have an impossible tax system for indie authors. They have no contract to avoid double taxes so guess who will get a smaller profit because of this law regulation? The indie author will pay 30% of his profit if he lives in a country with bad financial laws. Trolls. Negative people will try to ruin your sale with bad ratings or reviews, but unless the book is not rated with a mark of 3.00 incomplete rating, it will not affect the s...

Authors: are you objective about your books?

Recently one author on Twitter says how he would be pleased to get 3 stars rating for his books. It is a rare statement and shows maturity because it is not easy to be objective about your books. Three obstacles to your success in writing are: Ego. You are persuaded that your books are good. Inability to receive critics. It is hard to digest critics, but it is a way to progress. Passivity. If you just sit and wait for someone to buy your books, you will not have success. There is a saying that an author must have thick nerves and a good stomach. I remember when a woman says to my book "sounds like a horrible book with a horrible title." I had no idea why she said this because she did not read it, she saw it in the group and I don't know who she was. That was my first test and I lost nerves and insulted her because I felt hurt. A professional writer must stay calm, even with trolls. We must know that some people are frustrated and they will do everything to spoil someone...

7 myths about reviews

I got a review.  Every author will be delighted by reviews of his book. It means someone read it and posted an opinion. Reviews are hard to get because competition is big. Also, readers in Amazon read books from famous authors, and we, indie authors are getting a piece of cake. Probably you heard about this magic number of reviews. 20-25 reviews, your book will be marked as "you might also read". 50 reviews will bring you to mention in the Amazon newsletter. It looks tempting and authors are struggling to get a huge number of reviews, but in reality, things look different. 7 myths about reviews: Bad ratings mean that book is trash, the same as bad reviews. It is not true, as tastes are different. Someone can spit on your book because of the genre you write, or because this person doesn't like the author. Also, many trolls are around, who can't wait a chance to ruin someone's rating. Excellent reviews mean that book is a bestseller. It is hard to please everyone, a...

How to find a good editor?

Your book is done. You wrote your story, but it is not ready for publishing. Why not? You need an editor. Before you assume it is easy to find, I offer some tips to save you from liars, cheaters, and opportunists. What kind of qualities a good editor should have? It must be an American or British editor. Don't think you can find a good editor in your country if you are not a native English speaker. Those who are Americans or British know the best about their culture, habits, phrases, and they will make a benefit for you. Your editor must have a testimony. It is praise from readers, usually made on their website, about their work. A good editor will communicate with the author. It is not like, I have done your book, give me the money. No! You must talk to your editor about your sentences, emptiness in your story lines, things that are not logical, and make a common agreement on what is missing in your book. It means, your book should go to the editor at least twice. A good editor...

Basic mistakes in promoting your book in social media

You wrote a book. The next step would be to promote it on social media if you are an independent author. Promoting books is the way to reach visibility and potential buyers. This is important to find your reader's circle and get reviews. You are hungry for success, I know it. A huge desire to make sales could result in a negative effect. You might be blocked and deleted, even reported if you force your sales and annoy people. These are basic mistakes people do in promoting books: Randomly tagging people with your links. Who are you and do you know these people? You can't tag someone you don't know and offer your product. Sending private messages to unknown people. "Hi, I wrote a book and I would love to review or purchase. Click on the link, go and read it." Spam your page with the same links every day.  This is annoying, you are repeating yourself. Repeating the same things as parrot will not help you to reach a potential audience. Try to ask for money for your r...

6 kind of traps in book promotions

I want to sell many books. This is something that every author dream of. In making this score, authors will use promotional tools, and some of them are not useful. Accord my experience, here are traps that suck your wallet and waste your time. Review promises. It is not once that someone promises me a review and it never happened. I asked twice, and it stayed the same. When you realize that a person is not giving you a review, give it up. Some people are just like that, giving empty promises they don't want to realize, or they wanted to be kind, without real intention. Paid promotional sites. Be very picky when you promote books on paid promotional sites. Many of them are just taking your money and you will not make a good investment. For example, I paid 40 dollars for my book promotion and sold only 10 books. Next time I paid 25 dollars and sold only 6 books. You will never see me again. Potential buyers. The best buyer is a person who buys your book and sends you a message or ...

Authors: are you targeting the right market?

Let's assume people want to support your books. There are some genuine souls who really want your success and they would love to help you. Good intentions are not enough, you need to know are those people are your readers or this support is only formal. What kind of readers you can meet? Some people will share your book links but never open them. There is no use, they do it automatically. People will congrats you, but they are not interested in what are you doing. This is a usual phenomenon, people want to support you for some reasons, but your books are not interesting them. Maybe a guy wants to approach you to flirt, maybe your friend wishes to support you, but their real intention is to be close to you, not to read your books. People will support you expecting you to do the same. "Read my book I will read yours" is a common deal, but not always recommended. You read his book, he never returned. Or he pretended to read, but you can see from the review it is only formal....

How to sell the book?

Hello authors. I bet this is the question you ask yourself very often? What is wrong with my book and why is not selling? Why others are selling books and I can't manage it? Now is a year since I am selling my books. Croatian bank was not in the American bank system so I had to wait 3 years to get my money from Kindle. So, there are worse things than passive readers, agree? I will not lie, it is not an ideal position, and I am not Stephen King or John Grisham.  I learned a few things and I want to share them with you. The cover. What is the first thing that attracts the reader? Your book cover. If you want to buy the book in the library, I am sure you will take the one with an interesting cover. The same is with e-books, you will pick a book by the cover. Professional covers are expensive, but sure you can invest some money and find a suitable price.  The blurb. Now, you want to know what is a book about, before you buy it, isn't it? That is similar to a movie, you will read...

Why should someone read my books?

Every writer wishes to sell his books. We want primary purpose, to reach an audience, readers who will buy our books. What makes difference between amateurs and professionals, is how they talk to the audience. If you hit an unknown internet user with a message "Hello! Will you review my book? I kindly ask you to read and review my story.", there is a big chance that you will get blocked. No wonder, you remind the reader of a beggar who is standing in front of your door, asking a favor.  Reviews are the main tools for sale, but how to get them? Why should someone read your book when you have millions of indie authors and books online? Why should someone buy your book when you have free books online? From my experience, how you represent yourself is the key to your sales. I have twelve books, various genres. How to - self-help books. I don't have an intention to lecture someone. I transfer my personal experience. In this way, I clean my soul from my mistakes and give you s...
