Author Stjepan Vareševac Cobets

One of my favorite authors from Croatia is Stjepan Cobets.

Stjepan Varesevac Cobets was born on 12 September 1965 in Split, Croatia. He lives and works in Kastel Sucurac, where he finished elementary and secondary school.

At a very young age, he started reading and loved it because, through books, he traveled to places he could never visit in person. He loved fairy tales and adventure but later discovered other genres as a child. When he found a Jules Verne book in the library, he became fascinated by science fiction. He has been writing poetry for fifteen years and has started writing science fiction. Lately, he has also written children’s fairy tales and fables.

He published in Croatia poetry collections “An Opened Heart” in 2002, “The Sleepy Way” in 2005, and “Love” in 2006.

On Amazon, he has published science fiction novels such as “Godeena” in 2015 and “The Dream of the Forest” in 2018, the science fiction short story “Butterfly” in 2016, and several novellas including “The Collector” in 2019, “Black Seeds” in 2020 and “2025” in 2022. In addition, he has produced fairy tales for children, named “Magic Clogs” and “Joseph, The Good Giant”, both in 2019.

Stjepan has also released several poetry collections, including “The Child of Happiness” in 2015, the poetry collection “When the Moon Takes Over the Dream: Love Poetry” in 2016, the poetry collection “The Flaming Horses: Collection of Poetry” 2017, the poetry collection “Twitter of Night Nightingale” in 2019, and the poetry collection “Golden treads” in 2021.

My review:

I was reading this book for a month. It took many researching by the author and he did it professionally. Strength and power is the message of Ahmarudi tribal, where men are warriors, and women are just machine to give birth. What I liked the most, is the author's approach to the woman's side. A woman's rebellion accord the negative circumstances, despite fear, here is the rage and defiance. The author jumps from future to past and the opposite, between many characters to develop the story. It made me curious, and I was reading with curiosity. A warrior's fights are described as in the action movie, with special effects, and from time to time a reader could feel nauseated if you have sensitive nerves. But this is the charm of the book, the author wish that you face it with reality. Even the love story is described as a story between two opposite characters. Helen will not obey, and Arn will represent himself as the real, strong man, but not the aggressive macho. For sure this book has mine recommendation, for all who love adrenaline.
