6 kinds of biased readers

Biased review is something that is forbidden on Amazon. If your family member or close friend praises your book and Amazon noticed it, it will be deleted. It is an uncomfortable situation. Your friend wants to help you and he likes the book, but Amazon doesn't have a good reaction to hyper-positive reviews. Some writers will give ARC copies or free books in giveaways to get more reviews. They will expect 4 or 5 stars from people who got the book as a gift from them. But, does it always happen?  What happens if your ARC reader gives you a negative review? He is ungrateful or objective? Or, he is trolling your book? What kind of readers are possibly biased? If the author offers you a book and reads your book, so you mutually praise each other. If the author talks to you about giving him not less than a 4 or 5-star review. If your editor gives you a review. If your family member gives you a review. If a blogger gives you a review when he promotes you and praises your book. If the revi...

6 things that readers dislike

I am a multi-genre author and thrillers are my favorite genre. Being on another side, as a reader and reviewer (only when I pick the book) I discovered things that readers dislike. I was reading about 150 books by indie authors. Partly to improve my English and writing style, and partly because I love reading, I was on a journey with interesting views. This is my opinion and some will not agree with me, but you can comment and express your opinion. Here is the list of book turn-offs: Prolonged books. I understand some authors want to tell the story with many details, but the plot is lost if you are stuck with too many descriptions and unimportant things. Reading a thriller that is stuck with a love story in the middle will distract readers. In the end, you have a messy book where the content is not clear. Mixed genres . Ok, if I am reading a thriller, I don't want to spoil it with a sleazy love story, about the wedding plans of the main characters. Sugarcoating is not good. A good...

Why Amazon is deleting your reviews?

I know that unpleasant surprise when you click on your Amazon link and the number of your reviews is getting smaller. Two years ago Amazon deleted my eight reviews. The author who made these reviews got removed account even she purchased the books. Amazon's logic is next: Amazon will get banned paid reviews. So, avoid paying promotional services for their reviews. They will delete biased reviews. They will delete reviews if there is no track of purchase or KENP read. They will delete reviews if they notice swapping. Also, abused and violated reviews will be deleted if someone reported them. Biased reviews are those reviews from your friends or family, where they praised your books. Amazon will see your connection and delete it. If you want to protect the review from deleting, purchase the book, or wait until the book will be free and click to download it. What is totally unfair from Amazon, and it is present a few years ago, are ratings without explanations. If you scroll around au...

Why is ignorance bad for authors?

Many authors complain about bad reviews because that is an unpleasant experience. It is not comfortable when you read bad critics about your books, that could be mockery or insults.  However, bad reviews have a positive side, your book is getting noticed. Somehow you touched someone's nerve, or your book really needs work so the reviewer is right. It means you will have a direction on how to fix your mistakes. Unless it is trolling, bad reviews should not have always bad effects. Ignorance is another problem that indie authors face.  You can see it in a few ways: You promoted your book, and invested money, but your sales are low. You asked for reviews, but nobody answered you. You made a status about your book, but nobody clicked a link to buy it. Sometimes, you will get a promise. It would be a promise that will never be realized. It means a polite rejection. "Well, you will have to wait. Currently, I have no time to read it." When you were writing your book, you did not...

If you hate the artist, don't make bad reviews as revenge

I understand that not everyone has the same taste. The book that made someone joyfully is a piece of trash to others. For example, I think "Fifty shades of grey" is bullshit and an illusion for naive women, but many women will enjoy this. Some people use bad ratings and reviews as a tool for revenge. I had conflicts with a few authors in the past, and they use it to rate bad my books. It is not professional at all, that is a childish act. If you want to show your greatness, make a successful. Show me you can sell more books than I could, or get more reviews.  While you are spending time spitting at my work, I am writing and promoting my books. I am too busy with my aim to make a paycheck for bad people. If you rate a book with one star, and that book has more than 20 good reviews, you should have good arguments. If you can describe why you don't like a book, I will congratulate you. If you just write "this is trash", it doesn't talk about a book, it talks ab...

Booklovers are people who love to spend their time reading books. It is great to spread your view and knowledge by reading, you can travel to places you never been and find out things you never supposed to exist. As an indie author, I am looking for my readers, I am willing to spread my circle, but people are of various kinds. Not every reader is suitable for every author. Accord my experience, here are 7 types of readers: Fake reader . He will give you a review, but he is not indeed interested to read your books. He just wishes to do a favor but your book is not his choice. Santa Claus reader. This is a person who will take your free book, promise a review, and then vanish. You will never get your review, and this reader is real as Santa Claus. Picky reader. This is an honest person who will immediately say "I am not interested" or "I will read your book. You can get reviews very fast from this reader, he knows what he wishes. Reciprocate reader. This is a person who...

My dark drama book - The Seller of Sins

I am introducing my new book in the Amazon, "The Seller of Sins. " This is a story about passion and betrayal, but mostly about marriage between two people who felt alone even. They are together. This is not happily lived after the story, because many elements missing. They are without children, both are stubborn and both love their freedom.  When a mysterious woman appears, they were already deep in problems, she just pulls it on the surface. If you love dark stories without prejudices, if you love soft erotica and drama, this is a book for you. Especially, the important part is in the virtual world where morals died, boundaries are erased and it involves your real life in illusions from the internet.  Here is the link to the book: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZWJYH55/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_RqsVDbK07JGW4 From the preview:  She was too weak for a fight with life’s obstacles, but death would cut off any chances to stay in the race.   Secretl...

How to make a good book review?

I started as an indie author a year ago. Like every writer, I met with various kinds of people. Many of them supported my work, and I am very grateful to them. Also, some authors underestimated me, in a way “you need to learn a lot, to read more books from other authors, don’t rush with your stories. “ Every author needs a review. In this way, a book will get free marketing, because readers will grab a book that is recommended . Which was the movie you last saw in the cinema, and why? For sure, it was the one that the media recommended. Later you decide did you like it or not. The same is with books, you wish to see why people brag about a book, what is so special there? Impressions are very important. I read and review about 22 books. My intention was to expand my knowledge, improve my English, and help authors dear to me. I chose them by myself because I am allergic to recommendations like: “Read and review my book. Purchase it.” This reminds me of sellers door to door. Thos...
