6 kind of traps in book promotions

I want to sell many books. This is something that every author dream of. In making this score, authors will use promotional tools, and some of them are not useful. Accord my experience, here are traps that suck your wallet and waste your time. Review promises. It is not once that someone promises me a review and it never happened. I asked twice, and it stayed the same. When you realize that a person is not giving you a review, give it up. Some people are just like that, giving empty promises they don't want to realize, or they wanted to be kind, without real intention. Paid promotional sites. Be very picky when you promote books on paid promotional sites. Many of them are just taking your money and you will not make a good investment. For example, I paid 40 dollars for my book promotion and sold only 10 books. Next time I paid 25 dollars and sold only 6 books. You will never see me again. Potential buyers. The best buyer is a person who buys your book and sends you a message or ...

How to make an interaction with your readers?

Connecting with readers is a hard task. In the world of indie authors, competition is big. Every author needs an audience, and famous authors are an advantage. So, you are not John Grisham or Stephen King, and your audience will not come automatically. To make a reader's community, you need to do next: Read some authors' books. If you read other's author's books, they will maybe read yours, especially because they need readers. Promote other people. You need a chain, and as the chain is bigger, your business is better. Show gratitude. Someone gives you your time by reading your book, so you must be grateful. Make interviews. People believe in visuals, so if you were on television, people might be interested in your work if you reached more than 1000 video views. Don't be a brainwasher. That means, don't show: Egoism. Vanity. Don't look down at other people. Pick up your friend's circle. You need to show attitude. If you let people fool you, if someone is...

Why is so hard to get Amazon review?

Getting an Amazon review is the biggest accomplishment for an indie author. Your book will get noticed as many as you get, especially if these reviews are from successful authors. Here is a catch: you need to spend 50 dollars a year on books to be a reviewer. Also, you must be careful what you post as a review. Your review is under conditions. You can't insult the author. You can't abuse the author. You can't be an author's friend to praise his work, you must be objective. Your review can't be a tool for revenge, to ruin the reputation of other's writers. If you don't follow the rules, you will be reported and Amazon might delete your account. Also, if you beg other authors for a swap, Amazon can forbid you to review. So, many readers will not spend 50 dollars on books. They will not have terms to leave reviews. Amazon is cleaning reviews once a year, their algorithm checking eligibility.  Also, some readers expect you will pay for their reviews. Some don...

Giving your book for free? You need to know this..

Many authors will give their books for free for the purpose of promotion.  Their expectations are: Many KENP readers, because the book is free. Many reviews, because the book is free. With many ratings, the book is free. Reality is not so dazzling. People will grab a free book, but many will not read this. Some of them will give bad ratings or bad reviews, and the minority will give a read. When you see something free, your first thought might be: well, this is not worthy it. If this is a quality, it will be priced. Giving your book free might give a wrong impression : This is an author I never heard about. This is a low budget. This is a trashy read. When you give your book for free, it should be targeting the audience.  You expect a reader's circle, so the blurb must be well described, the cover must be professional and the story must be edited. Also, if you have more books, let other books have a price.  You are offering a free book but as a representative pattern of y...

How to overcome the fear of the public?

Imagine you must represent your work in public. Thousand people stare at you and watch your every move. Suddenly, phobia made power, and you freeze in the place. Your voice is trembling, your body is shaking and now you have a panic attack. Now it is getting worse. You will see mocking in their faces, you will hear laughter and insults. This is not a movie, this is something that happens to you. Spending years fighting the fear of public appearance, I learned some tricks to relax. Focus. Remember what is your primary purpose, why you come here. Practice. Have a public appearance when you get the opportunity. It means workdays, seminars, and interviews.  Choose a small step. Zoom that happens in your room is a good intro. If you can't stand up in front of hundred people, you can open a camera in your room.  Remember, ignorance prevails. Many people who come to listen to you are not listening. They just want to be anywhere to kill their boredom. Pick your role models. Some peopl...
