Why some people don't want your success?

Jealousy and envy are followers of success. When you hear stories about friendships that broke because one friend is successful and the other did not manage, that is not a surprise.

Marketing your book might lead you to some dark waters, where you can meet people who don't want your success.

These categories you can meet:

People who offer you to promote the book on their sites for a high price. You will just make your wallet empty.

People who want your book free in exchange for a review. Many people will take a book, but you will not get a review.

People who offer "favor for a favor" but there is a trap. You can read their book and they will never read yours.

Trolls. Those people will rate your book with negative stars just to ruin your sales.

You wonder, where is the cause, why this happens?

It can explain by various reasons.

Many people wish for success, and sabotaging their competition is their way to clean their path.

Many people did not manage, so they wish the same for you.

Many people wish to earn from others, by setting them a trap, how to get money and spend a little money by themselves.

The cruelty of business. Accord Darwin, only the strongest survive, and people justify their aim by wrong, destroying ways. Bringing someone down to lift themselves up.

How to recognize this and find a solution?

You need to turn on your intuition and recognize fake between your friends. The ones who jump in your inbox, spam your pages, and offer promises without real background, are suspicious.

To know who is your cooperator, talk to people. If you develop a strategy to communicate with people, you will know their character, so they could be your future support. Your reader's base, reviewer's base can be based on your acquaintances.

Delete, block, unfollow. Cleaning your social media from intruders is also a way to make success. Turn on your filter and get off people who slow you down.

Make your priorities. Let your aim be clear. If you want readers, don't let something else drag your attention. You are not in a comfort zone, you are professional. You don't have time for romantic flirt, listening to other's problems, or giving a shoulder for cry. You need to sell the book.

Don't get involved personally, you will use objectivity.

Get rid of double-faced people. If you see someone who did not support you or who follows you just because you are popular, cut it off. You don't need a mole.

Making a clean field is a basic condition for your promotion. Having support is step two, and having a factor of luck is the higher level. Happiness follows the brave, so when you did everything else, good luck might smile at you.

Swapping books - a devil's deal

"I will read your book if you read and review mine." This is an example of author's deal when it comes time for reviews. Reviews is hard to get. If you sell books, it is still not guarantee you will get reviews. If I could get a review for every book I sold, it would be great. People will buy book to collect it on the shelves and leave it un-read. Or, they will read but not rate it. Many reasons are for not getting reviews, but some people don't know where and how to write reviews or are not eligible. That is the reason why authors will turn to other authors, with a proposition for review. The danger of such review is on Amazon rules: author can't review other's author books on request. I love to read indie authors and they inspire me, but I have my circle and I never accept offers to read someone I never heard about. Once I got a proposition :" Hey, I saw your review for XX author, can you write it for me, too?" I ignored it. When you have a deal ...
